Breathing Tube Holder
Once a paramedic inserts a breathing device to protect the patient’s airway, a tube holder is used to secure the tube. Without a tube holder, the breathing device could move and compromise the air flow to the patient.
One insight from my research was the tube could be kinked with the current design as a paramedic could easily over screw the mechanism. Under stress it is possible for this to occur.
Another insight was time could be wasted trying to secure the tube with the current design. As there was multiple steps to complete and the strap needs to be threaded through a small slot.
This re-designed tube holder makes it faster and easier to secure the breathing tube. Using the strap to secure the tube means it can not be over tightened. This design received positive feedback from paramedics and paramedicine students. They loved how fast and easy it was to use during patient resuscitation.
